Let’s talk about something every entrepreneur should incorporate into their daily routine - entrepreneurial rituals. These are small, intentional actions that you do every day to set yourself up for success.
It is important to create the following: a morning ritual, evening ritual, and pre-work ritual.
Let’s start with a morning ritual.
It’s never *ideal* to jump directly into work. We have to nourish ourselves and our minds first! Think of a few things that you would love to do throughout your mornings. This could be baking a lovely breakfast, taking some extra time to get ready, reading a book, or spending some time exercising. Take a moment to realize that it’s possible to make these things our normal.
Your morning ritual should prepare you for the day. Define non-negotiables you must accomplish every morning. Here’s mine:
Eat a nutritious breakfast
Journal
Exercise
Plus, once I’ve accomplished these and I’m ready for work, I feel better because I’ve completed something!
You might be thinking - isn’t a pre-work ritual the same thing? Sort of, but not really.
A pre-work ritual is meant to prepare your MIND to get in focus mode.
My best recommendation for this is the classic brain dump. Open up a journal or a Word document, and write down every single thing that’s on your mind. It doesn’t matter how random it is. Write it down. This will help to release anything that you were dealing with throughout your day and channel that energy into being focused.
Next, define your first 3 tasks of the day. This could be answering emails, checking your calendar, and updating your tasks. The point of this is to set a clear direction to get you started with your work.
Lastly, evening rituals are meant to reset your mind and prepare you to rest. There should be NO WORK involved in this ritual. No client e-mails or texts, this time is about you.
Similar to your morning routine, identify a few things that you love to do that bring you relaxation. My evening non-negotiables are:
Eat a healthy dinner
Do a skincare routine
Read some of a book
It is helpful if you try to avoid electronics during your evening routine, as it helps the body to wind down without it.
Attached in this lesson you will find a document to help you define your non-negotiables for your routines. Put it to use and let me know what you think.
