Social media can be extremely toxic if used improperly. That’s why I can’t express the importance of watching the content that you consume enough.

When you’re constantly comparing yourself to others on social media, it can be easy to feel that you’re behind or that you’re not doing enough. But it’s important to remember that people only show the best parts of their lives on social media, and it’s not an accurate representation of reality.

In order to maintain a healthy mindset, it's crucial to consume content that is uplifting, inspiring, and positive. This can include following accounts that promote body positivity and self-love, sharing motivational quotes or stories, and engaging with communities that focus on personal growth and well-being.

It's also important to limit your consumption of negative or triggering content. Unfollow accounts or mute keywords that make you feel inadequate or unhappy. Remember, your mental health should always come first.

Try finding new content to replace your scrolling. I highly recommend motivating podcasters on YouTube, such as Jay Shetty, Rachel Hollis, or Lewis Howes. These individuals have dedicated their platforms to spreading positivity and self-improvement. You can also find podcasts on music platforms such as Apple Music or Spotify, or start to read motivating or educational books.

Additionally, don’t be afraid to take breaks from social media altogether. Schedule designated "unplugged" times where you disconnect from technology and focus on activities that bring you joy or relaxation. This could be anything from going for a walk, spending time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, or simply taking a few moments to sit in silence and reflect.

Here are a few things to remember while you’re on social media:

  • Always be mindful of your own mental health and set boundaries for yourself.

  • It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison game on social media, but remember that what you see online is often a highlight reel and not a true depiction of someone's life.

  • Be aware of how much time you’re spending on social media and make sure it doesn’t interfere with other important aspects of your life.

  • Don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you’re struggling with negative thoughts or feelings. There are many resources available such as hotlines, therapy, or support groups.

  • Always remember that taking care of your mental health should be a top priority.
