Fear of Failure

This can paralyze individuals, preventing them from taking risks and pursuing their goals. We need to embrace our failures. Without failure, there is no learning experience. Without failure, there is no opportunity to be better.

Just because you “fail” does not mean that you are not good at something. Every single expert has failed multiple times at their craft in order to get where they are now.

The next time you feel as if you have failed at something, I want you to do the following:

  1. Give yourself a hug and take a deep breath

  2. Remind yourself that life is full of speedbumps

  3. Take note of the lesson learned

Impostor Syndrome

We’ve all experienced this. Despite all of our hard work, we’re left questioning whether we truly have the skills to be doing what we’re doing.

These thoughts can cause endless amounts of damage and missed opportunities. That’s why it’s important to remind ourselves that if we are imagining it in extreme detail, we are able to make it happen.

Let’s look at the definition of impostor syndrome: the self-doubt of intellect, skills, or accomplishments among high-achieving individuals.

Both men and women can equally suffer from impostor syndrome. It is a cognitive distortion, meaning it causes people to doubt their skills or accomplishments. It can come from a combination of factors. A few are:

  • Family Environment (growing up with family members who might have been overly critical)

  • Social Pressures (Being part of a social circle where approval seems explicitly linked to achievement)

  • Sense of Belonging (being found out and cast out)

I want you to remember impostor syndrome is a form of saboteur. We will dive deeper into Impostor Syndrome in the future, but I want you to remember the SBNRR technique.

  • Stop

  • Breathe

Negative Self-Talk

Negative self-talk… we’ve all experienced it. That little voice in our heads that tells us we're not good enough, smart enough, or capable enough. It can be especially prevalent for those who grew up in a family environment where they were constantly criticized or compared to others. This can lead to a deep-seated fear of failure and a persistent feeling of inadequacy.

However, making sure that you recognize and rework negative self-talk statements into positive ones is extremely powerful. It can help shift your mindset and ultimately lead to more confidence in yourself and your abilities.

A few examples of how you can change negative statements into positive ones…

Instead of saying "I'm not good at this," try saying "I can improve with practice and hard work." This reframes the statement from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, acknowledging that skills can be developed.

Similarly, instead of saying "I'll never be able to do this," try saying "I may struggle now, but I am capable of learning and growing." This allows for the possibility of improvement and progress.

It's also important to recognize when negative self-talk is occurring and consciously make an effort to replace those thoughts with positive ones. This can take time and practice, but it is worth the effort in order to cultivate a more positive and confident outlook on oneself.

Remember, everyone experiences negative self-talk at some point or another. The key is to not let it control your thoughts and actions. By actively working on shifting to a growth mindset, you can build resilience and confidence in your abilities, leading to greater success in all aspects of life.

So the next time you catch yourself saying "I can't do this," challenge that thought and reframe it into a growth-oriented statement. With persistence and determination, you'll be surprised at what you are capable of achieving. As the saying goes, "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." Choose to believe in your potential for growth and watch as your mindset transforms for the better.

Beliefs Around Money

Most of us have some… interesting feelings when it comes to money.

Some of us feel extreme happiness. Some of us feel fear.

But the truth is, our beliefs about money are not set in stone. We have the power to change them and adopt a more growth-oriented mindset when it comes to finances.

One way to do this is by reframing our thoughts around money. Instead of viewing it as a limited resource or something that we need to hoard, think of money as a tool for growth and abundance. Money is simply energy, and when we use it wisely and with intention, it can help us achieve our goals and dreams.

It's also important to recognize and challenge any negative beliefs we may hold about money. These limiting beliefs can often stem from childhood experiences or societal conditioning, but they do not have to dictate our financial future. By identifying these beliefs and replacing them with positive affirmations, we can create a healthier relationship with money.

In addition to reframing our thoughts around money, it's crucial to take action towards our financial goals. This could mean creating a budget, saving for retirement, or investing in ourselves through education or personal development. By taking small, consistent steps towards our goals, we can build a strong foundation for financial success.

Ultimately, the key to attracting more wealth into our lives is having a positive mindset, challenging limiting beliefs, and taking intentional action towards our goals. With these practices in place, we can cultivate a life of abundance and achieve financial freedom for ourselves and those around us. So let go of any negative thoughts or beliefs about money and embrace an abundant mindset - your future self will thank you!

Lack of Confidence

If you’re afraid of showing up in your business, you’re not alone. Lack of confidence can be a major roadblock to achieving financial success. However, it’s important to remember that confidence is not a fixed trait - it’s something that can be developed and strengthened over time. Start by identifying your strengths and skills, and focus on building upon them. Seek out resources such as books, courses, or mentors that can help you improve in areas where you feel less confident. Remember, the more you invest in yourself and your growth, the more confident you will become. And with confidence comes the ability to take risks and make bold financial decisions that can lead to success.

Scarcity Mindset

So, what exactly is a scarcity mindset?

A scarcity mindset is a way of thinking that is rooted in the belief that there will never be enough. This can manifest in many areas of our lives, including finances. People with a scarcity mindset often feel trapped in their current financial situation and believe that they don't have the resources or opportunities to improve it.

A scarcity mindset can have detrimental effects on our financial success. When we believe that there will never be enough, we become focused on just getting by instead of striving for growth and abundance. We may pass up opportunities because we think they are too risky or not worth the effort. We may also struggle with making decisions about money out of fear of losing what little we have.

The first step to breaking free from a scarcity mindset is recognizing that it exists. Often, we have internalized this way of thinking from past experiences or societal influences. However, by acknowledging and understanding its negative effects, we can start to shift our perspective.

One helpful exercise is to challenge our thoughts when they veer towards scarcity. For example, if we catch ourselves saying "I'll never have enough money," we can ask ourselves why we believe this and if there is evidence to support it. We may realize that this belief is based on fear and not actual facts.

Next, it's important to focus on abundance instead of lack. This doesn't mean ignoring financial realities, but rather shifting our mindset to one of growth and opportunity. Instead of dwelling on what we don't have, we can start to appreciate what we do have and find ways to make the most of it.

Practicing gratitude can be a powerful tool in combatting scarcity thinking. By regularly expressing thanks for the blessings in our lives, we can cultivate a sense of abundance and shift our focus away from what we lack.

Comparison Trap

Comparing yourself to others in business won’t get you anywhere. While it’s natural to look at other successful businesses and feel a sense of envy, constantly measuring yourself against others will only lead to feelings of inadequacy and scarcity. This comparison trap can be detrimental to our mental health and productivity.

Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we should focus on our own growth and progress. Every business is different and has its own unique journey. We can learn from others but ultimately, we must stay true to our own path.

Remember, success is not a fixed destination - it looks different for everyone and can evolve over time. So instead of comparing ourselves to others, let's embrace our unique journeys and be proud of where we are at in our own business ventures.
